Country Codes
I found this post by Neko san from Asoboo regarding a print graphic that called out all of TLD's in the world by country and territory. An informative tool for us web geeks and would make a nice piece in the office. Order it here.Wednesday, October 24, 2007
Simplicity Rules

The Japanese designer duo of 100% are about perfectionism, hence their name. Changing the way of the conventional light bulb by creating a sophisticated yet simplistic approach by adding another socket or standing an umbrella on it's own. I find their work very inspiring.
G-Force
G-Force was my favorite Japanese anime cartoon growing up and gave me inspiration to doodle anime. I recently heard Yoshitaka Amano, creator of G-Force, has an art installation of his creative works in HK.

Classic Horror
Superstar
Anticipation at it's finest. Lupe's upcoming album "The Cool" is sure to knock us out. I'm really looking forward to it. Lu's style and delivery has proven him to be one of the illest emcee's out. Period. His latest single "Superstar" is the hit! Listen up here.

Paperclip Lamp
When is a paperclip not a paperclip? When it’s an LED lamp by Teague. The designers of this lamp lend a genius example in form and function. Check out more viewable images here.

Viral Marketing = Word of Mouth?
Seth Godin (pic courtesey Adam Nollmeyer) is one of the most prolific marketing gurus of our time. I discovered his work during school and I continually revisit his books for inspiration.Seth Godin muses on the difference between viral marketing and world of mouth. In his view, world of mouth is a "decaying function." Someone has a bad experience and tells their friends. Viral marketing, on the other hand, has a compounding effect. After the marketer does something, friends tell friends who tell friends. "This distinction is vital," he writes. "For one thing, it means that constant harassment of the population doesn't increase the chances of something becoming viral. It means that most organizations should realize that they have a better chance with word of mouth (more likely to occur, more manageable, more flexible) and focus on that."

Cardboard furniture
The kids and I are up for some fun project building. From NYT:
"Looking for that perfect accent for your design-conscious toddler’s room but don’t have the budget for a set of junior Panton chairs? The Swiss designer Nicola Enrico Stäubli has just the solution: his Web site, www.foldschool.com, provides downloadable patterns for a stool, a chair and a rocker, all of his own design — for free. The easy-to-follow instructions guide you through the cutting out, scoring, gluing and assembly. With a knack for crafts and a free afternoon (or two or three), you can put together the crystalline Frank Gehry-esque seating. Eco-friendly (corrugated cardboard is reusable and recyclable), not to mention crayon-friendly (you can actually encourage drawing on the furniture), it’s just the kind of conversation starter your child needs for her next play date."
Antenna Magazine

I recently discovered the second (premiere) issue of Antenna Magazine. I'm really feelin' the art direction/design layout and the showcase of featured products from A-Z. (B) Breath Mints (C) Caps.

Love thy Earth
Today, bloggers around the web will unite to put a single important issue on everyone’s mind - the environment. Every blogger will post about the environment in their own way and relating to their own topic. The aim is to get everyone talking towards a better future. Get involved with Blog Action Day.
With that said, I'd like to introduce a brand called Nau, where some very smart people have come together to make stylish clothing from sustainable materials and invest as many of the profits as possible to save trees and the water and the fresh air and all the things their customers enjoi while wearing such garb.Air Barkley
Hypebeast featured a great piece on Sir Charles and his contributions to the Nike Air Force One. Read the article here.

Evil Monito...the agency

I'd like to commend a job well done in all that Rickey Kim has done since the days of Evil Monito. I've been following this pioneer of street/pop culture since it's inception in 2001 and found Mr. Kim to be one of the most influential and inspirational figures in the field of design/communications. He has been the eyes and ears for a lot of us in our industry. Tonight marks the day of EM's new studio grand opening. Congratulations Rickey!Special Note: From the Evil Monito Staff
Hello Dear Friends,
It has been SIX years since the concept of Evil Monito was conjured and born. What started out as an online magazine (www.evilmonito.com) in January 2001 in the college dorm room of Rickey Kim, has now come into fruition as a new company in the whole. Evil Monito Agency will officially open its doors for business on Friday - October 12, 2007. We would like to invite you all to celebrate with us in this joyous occasion. We will also be debuting our project with Kangol, continuing our New York celebration we had last week, which had a tremendous turnout.
Read more and follow up on tonight's celebration here.

Staple reigns NY
Back in August of 06, I recall Jeff Staple blogging a visit with Gravis Footwear. We just all new something had to come out of that. And 13 months later Jeff Staple's collaboration with Gravis has been finally unveiled! Amazing work and well executed pieces refering to the winter streets of NY. Stizzaple killed it with this Black Box Collection. Check out the write up of his concept to completion on Honeyee.

Start Small. Think Big.
HP has done a very inspirational feature on Jake Burton, founder of Burton Snowboards. A brand that I highly admire from it's visuals to products. Burton's analogy of start small, think big is what I commonly share with my clients (and myself). The website is very well designed and scripted. Check it out here.
